Preparation

  1. Start by removing the frozen shrimp from the packaging and letting them thaw in cold water for about 15 minutes. An alternative would be to let them thaw in the fridge overnight. Make sure the shrimp reach room temperature before eating.
  2. If you are using a ready-made cocktail sauce, skip steps 3 & 4
  3. To make the homemade cocktail sauce, mix mayonnaise, tomato ketchup, lemon or lime juice, Sriracha sauce or a splash of Tabasco, Worcestershire sauce and finely grated garlic in a bowl. Use a whisk or spoon to thoroughly mix all ingredients together.
  4. Finally, give the mixture the desired taste by adding salt and pepper and season as necessary.
  5. Pour the cocktail sauce into a glass or bowl and store in the refrigerator until needed.
  6. There are many options for serving. You can stylishly hang the shrimp on a cocktail glass and place the sauce in the middle. This dish can also be served on a platter. Or would you rather mix everything? The staging of the dish can be tailored to the occasion.

An additional touch of classic is created when you add a splash of cognac or whiskey to the cocktail sauce. Serve and enjoy!
