Frequently asked questions about the GOOD GAMBA

Where do the GOOD GAMBA shrimp come from?

Our GOOD GAMBA shrimp are farmed in the heart of Spain – more precisely in Castile-León. There you will find a modern, land-based high-tech aquaculture facility that is deliberately located far away from coastal regions. This not only enables independent, sustainable production, but also direct access to regional markets in Europe – for maximum freshness and minimal transport distances.

What type of shrimp is the GOOD GAMBA?

Our GOOD GAMBA is a white tiger shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei). This shrimp species is known for its high meat quality, mildly sweet taste, and versatility in the kitchen. It is one of the most popular shrimp species worldwide—but here it is farmed under particularly clean, antibiotic-free conditions.

Is the GOOD GAMBA sustainable?

Yes, in many ways. The breeding facility operates in a closed water cycle without external discharges – this means no wastewater and no interference with natural marine ecosystems. At the same time, energy and resource consumption is optimized. By-products such as breeding sludge are also reused. Production in the heart of Europe means that delivery routes are comparatively short, which reduces the carbon footprint. Packaging is also made from recyclable materials.

What does “independent of the ocean” mean?

The GOOD GAMBA is farmed entirely on land – without removing larvae from the wild, without access to open waters, and without impacting marine ecosystems. This independence enables particularly controlled, clean, and environmentally friendly farming – while also protecting marine biodiversity.

Does the GOOD GAMBA have sashimi quality?

Yes. The shrimp are processed and flash-frozen immediately after harvesting under the highest hygiene standards. This preserves their cell structure and flavor, allowing them to be safely consumed raw, e.g., as sashimi, tartare, or ceviche. The prerequisite is that the shrimp are thawed correctly and consumed within a few days.

How will the GOOD GAMBA be delivered to my home?

We ship the shrimp frozen in thermal packaging with dry ice. This ensures that the cold chain is maintained throughout the shipping process—no matter whether it's summer or winter. You receive GOOD GAMBA flash-frozen and can freeze it again immediately or thaw it slowly in the refrigerator as needed.
