Product description

About the donation project

Our earth's seas are full of plastic . Every year, millions of tons of waste are washed into the oceans via rivers and canals and accumulate on coasts, on the seabed or as floating islands. These masses of garbage, which consist predominantly of non-degradable plastic, pose a great danger to marine life and also to humans. The animals can get caught in the pieces or mistake them for food and die as a result. Over time, the plastic breaks down into microscopically small pieces, the so-called microplastics , which have health consequences for humans and animals.

In the global south, water pollution also puts the livelihoods of the local population at risk. The non-profit association Sana Mare has set itself the task of removing plastic from the waters and ensuring that less waste ends up in the oceans. On the other hand, they involve local people in their projects and offer them a livelihood and earning opportunities through cleanup projects and paid garbage drop-off points. In order for these projects to be implemented and practiced in as many places as possible, our donations are important. For every euro donated, the association removes 3.7 kg of rubbish from the waterways , recycles the rubbish and does educational work about the effects of plastic. You can find further information about our donation project and how the donation gets to where it is actually needed on the donation page .

Origin

Our organic Black Tiger Shrimp, scientifically known as Penaeus monodon, thrive in an aquaculture facility in southern Vietnam.

The Black Tiger Shrimp grow in this environment without any need for feed or harmful chemicals. The mangrove forests fully cover their nutrient needs, and any small emissions that may arise are offset by a certified reforestation project. This completely regenerative and natural farming method makes our Organic Black Tiger Shrimp an extremely environmentally friendly option.

The shrimp have enough space and time to grow in peace. Only when they have reached the required size are the king prawns carefully caught by hand with nets. In this process, the farmers are not only experienced fishermen, but also committed ambassadors of the mangrove forests who are committed to the well-being of the animals and the protection of the environment. In return for their efforts, they receive fair remuneration.

Preserving healthy mangrove forests is crucial to our low ecological footprint and the first-class quality of our organic black tiger shrimp. Our program directly rewards farmers for preserving mangrove forests in their natural splendor.
