Our razor clams do not contain any preservatives, colorants or additives, but instead delight with their naturally intense taste. This is characterized by a slight sweetness and a mild sea taste, which is why razor clams are particularly versatile in their preparation options. The tender texture of the mussel meat is a delight for the palate and characterizes the delicate taste experience.  

 

The ideal environmental conditions on the Portuguese coast, with nutrient-dense, clean and cool waters, promote the high quality of the razor clams, which is characterized by their meat and taste. Immediately after being caught, the mussels are processed and pasteurized with care and many years of expertise in order to preserve their natural taste.

They can be grilled, pan-fried, steamed or roasted and refined with a wide variety of spices and marinades, the flavors of which they easily absorb. The broth also provides an excellent umami experience, which perfectly compliments the delicate taste of the mussel meat.

 

Our razor clams are delivered to you pre-cooked, so no time-consuming removal of sand or pre-selection is necessary. This means after thawing you can start cooking quickly and easily and conjure up delicious dishes, for example as in our recipe tip, as razor clams in garlic-lemon butter.

  • The optimal defrosting - for those who plan ahead: You can gently defrost this product in the refrigerator within 12 hours.
  • The quick version - for those who decide at short notice: If you are in a hurry, it is possible to defrost this product in a water bath within 1 hour. The water should be cold to lukewarm.

Origin

The razor clams, known in Latin terms as Ensis magnus, are caught with dredges along the Portuguese coast (FAO 27.9.a). Immediately afterwards they are pasteurized in Spain.
