Our meat comes from forest pigs that are raised on a family-run farm in Rosenheim. What originally began as a research project for a dissertation on the behavior, health and meat quality of pigs in the forest has developed into a modern large-scale project on 20 hectares of woodland. Hute forests of this kind serve as natural grazing areas that do not require large-scale clearing or the establishment of grassland.
The forest pigs are kept at three sites in Bavaria, while another site is being prepared near Magdeburg. The Bavarian organic forest pigs grow up in extensive woodlands with an area of 500 to 1,000 square meters per animal, where they can forage and explore at will. This form of farming combines historically proven methods with modern approaches to feeding and care. The animals belong to the robust Schwäbisch-Hällische forest pig breed, which is known for its meat quality and is ideally suited to species-appropriate farming in the forest.
