Real Müritz zander is a real rarity, as the fish are exclusively wild-caught from local waters. The stocks are further supported through stocking and selective and gentle fishing methods. The Müritz fishermen have been working here in a strictly sustainable manner for 60 years.

The pike perch, with the Latin term Sander lucioperca , was caught with pots and traps, stells or gill nets in the Baltic Sea (FAO 27 Northeast Atlantic sub-catchment area Baltic Sea).
