We get our white sausages from Rupert's forest pigs from Rosenheim. Here the animals grow up in 100% species-appropriate conditions, living freely in their natural habitat, the grazing forests in Bavaria. The grazing forests offer each Bavarian organic forest pig 500-1,000 m² of space and guarantee a stress-free, healthy life for the animals. The white sausages therefore represent the highest level of animal welfare and sustainable animal husbandry, which also goes hand in hand with exceptional meat quality.

 

The forest pigs feed on organic feed and what they find in the forest themselves. In addition, they lead a much happier life and live longer and heavier than pigs in conventional fattening. Due to the natural diet and the intensive movement of the animals, the meat is particularly ripe and aromatic and has a very intense, nutty taste. The stress-free slaughter in local slaughterhouses also contributes to the exceptional quality that you can taste and enjoy with every bite of the white sausages.

Origin

We source the meat of the Bavarian organic forest pigs from a small family business in Rosenheim. Originally started as a research project for a dissertation on the behavior, animal health and meat quality of domestic pigs in the forest, it became a modern large-scale project on 20 hectares of pasture forest. Pasture forests are forests that are used as pasture for livestock and avoid the costly clearing and creation of grassland. The family business now has three locations in Bavaria, and another location near Magdeburg is already in the starting blocks. From an early age, the pigs grow and thrive in the pasture forests with forest and pasture land, which offer each animal 500-1000m² of space in which it can move freely and pursue its natural behavior such as rooting and exploring. The pigs are the result of historical, animal-friendly husbandry that meets modern findings in feeding and husbandry, and all this combined with the pig breed known for its meat quality and robustness: the Swabian-Halle forest pigs.
