Product description

Francis Orban Brut Rosé Champagne from the Vallée de la Marne

Francis Orban Brut Rosé comes from the family-run Francis Orban Champagne house in the Vallée de la Marne, a region renowned for its exceptional Pinot Meunier vineyards. The house has a long history: as early as 1929, Léopold Orban laid the foundation in Leuvrigny for what is now the winery, which is currently run by the fourth generation of the family.

The grapes for this rosé come from 7.5 hectares of vineyards spread across 29 carefully selected plots. The south-facing exposure of the vines, combined with soils composed of limestone, sand, and clay, give the champagnes their mineral precision, freshness, and richness. The Brut Rosé is made from 100 % Pinot Meunier, 8–10 % of which is vinified as red wine. Produced using the traditional Champagne method, the rosé ages in the bottle for about two years. Malolactic fermentation further contributes to a particularly harmonious structure and a soft, balanced texture.

Origin

Francis Orban Brut Rosé is an authentic artisanal champagne from the small, traditional Francis Orban champagne house, located in the heart of the Vallée de la Marne. The house’s history dates back to 1929, when Léopold Orban became the first person in the village of Leuvrigny to install his own wine press, thereby laying the foundation for today’s winery. Today, the family tradition is carried on by the fourth generation. The vineyards cover approximately 7.5 hectares across a total of 29 plots around Leuvrigny. They are predominantly south-southeast-facing and offer ideal conditions for Pinot Meunier, which accounts for more than 90 % of the vineyard area. The soils, composed of limestone, sand, and clayey formations, give the champagnes a subtle combination of richness, freshness, and mineral precision. For years, the family has followed a sustainable approach to viticulture, largely leaving nature to take its course: no insecticides, green cover between the rows, and selective plowing promote natural pest control. Reserve wines play an important role in the cellar in terms of balance and complexity. The result is lively, expressive champagne—clear in expression, fresh in fruit, and free of any superfluous elements. The Brut Rosé also follows this philosophy. Through traditional bottle fermentation, careful aging, and precise blending, a champagne is created that bears the house’s signature—expressive, harmonious, and shaped by the unique character of the Vallée de la Marne.
