Product description

Organic schnitzel from Bavarian forest pigs

Our pork comes from Bavarian organic forest pigs, which are raised in 100% species-appropriate conditions in their natural habitat, the grazing forests in Bavaria. The word freedom is very important to the forest pigs: on the one hand, each pig has 500-1000 m² of space in the forests, and in accordance with the motto "freedom of choice", each pig can decide for itself what kind of food it eats and whether it settles in the forest or on the pasture, for example.

The forest pigs are the result of historical, animal-friendly husbandry combined with modern knowledge of feeding and husbandry. In addition, this breed of pig is known for its meat quality and robustness. These circumstances ensure the incomparable quality of the forest pigs. The schnitzel is also extremely finely marbled and juicy due to the high intramuscular fat content.

Schnitzel like in Grandma's Day

The stress-free conditions, the extensive exercise and the balanced diet of the forest pigs ensure an intense aroma and fine fat marbling, which makes the meat particularly juicy. Thanks to the high quality, the meat is perfect for classic breaded or natural schnitzels. The schnitzel from organic forest pigs is also a real treat as Saltimbocca alla Romana.

Origin

Our forest pig meat comes from a small family farm in Rosenheim. What began as a research project for a dissertation on the behavior, animal health and meat quality of domestic pigs in the forest became a modern large-scale project on 20 hectares of woodland. Hute forests are forests that are used as pasture for livestock farming and avoid costly clearing and planting of grassland. The animals are spread over three locations in Bavaria, and another location near Magdeburg is also already planned. From an early age, the pigs grow and thrive in the hut forests with woodland and pastureland, which offer each animal 500-1000m² of space in which they can move freely and pursue their natural behavior such as rooting and exploring. The Bavarian organic forest pigs are the result of historical, animal-friendly husbandry methods combined with modern findings in feeding and husbandry and the pig breed known for its meat quality and robustness: the Schwäbisch-Hällische forest pigs.
