240 g Bavarian shrimps, ready to cook -
Wasabi mayonnaise - 200 ml vegetable oil for deep frying
- 100 g Panko breadcrumbs
- 1 orange or lemon
- pinch of salt
Crispy shrimp in panko breading with wasabi mayo - our favorite recipe if you want it to be crunchy and a real eye-catcher. Surprise friends and family with an original culinary starter. Quick and easy to prepare, it's a real treat. We used our ready-to-cook Bavarian shrimp in the recipe. If you like slightly larger finger food, choose our Black Tiger king prawns or Argentine red prawns.
Preparation
- Allow the shrimp to thaw, wash and pat dry. Then rub or mix the shrimp with 50 g wasabi mayonnaise and salt as desired
- Place the coarse panko breadcrumbs in a bowl and coat the shrimp in them.
- To deep fry, put the vegetable oil in a pot or deep fryer and heat it up. Fry the prawns for a few minutes until they are nice and brown and crispy, turning if necessary.
- Grate the zest of the orange or lemon with a zester and then pour it over the shrimp. Place a dab of wasabi mayonnaise on the plate for each shrimp and arrange the shrimp on top.
We recommend an Asian-spiced salad as the perfect side dish. We like to serve it with asaduke, which is pickled Japanese cucumbers. To do this, cut the cucumbers into slices, let them soak in salt for about 2 hours and drain. Dress with a little sesame oil, chili, sesame seeds and a little soy sauce. A suitable companion to the Crunchy Wasabi Shrimp.
