Origin

La Narval’s fish and seafood preserves are produced in the Galician Ría de Arousa with extensive experience and traditional craftsmanship. Located in northwestern Spain, this coastal region is one of the most important fishing centres in Europe and has been known for its high-quality seafood for generations. The mackerel (Scomber japonicus, Scomber colias) are caught in the Gulf of Cádiz (FAO 27) by a Portuguese inshore fleet that strictly adheres to the applicable fishing quotas. Thanks to the short distance between catch and processing, the mackerel are preserved while particularly fresh, helping to retain their delicate texture and natural flavour. The unmistakable, colourful tins add the final touch to their authentic gourmet character and have helped make La Narval known far beyond Spain.
