This shellfish mix combines two of the most popular types of shellfish: mussels and manila clams, also known as venus clams. The creamy, salty taste of the mussel complements the intense aroma of the Manila clam, resulting in a real explosion of flavor. The mussels and clams are pre-selected and packed cooked in their own juice so that you can prepare them with ease - guaranteed success, so to speak.

Our shellfish mix brings the maritime taste of Spain home to you. The delicate texture and the intense flavors of the mussels and clams gives your dishes an excellent aroma.  

 

The mussels and manila clams in our shellfish mix come from Galicia in the northwest of Spain. Mussel farming has a long tradition in Galicia and the region has built up a worldwide reputation for particularly exquisite mussels. Thanks to the ideal environmental conditions in Galicia, the mussels benefit from nutrient-rich waters with high biodiversity, allowing them to develop an intense flavor and high meat quality as they grow.

Cooking ideas for our shellfish mix


The shellfish mix is particularly convenient to prepare: as the shellfish have already been pre-selected for you and cooked in their own juice, you can start preparing them straight after defrosting. The stock is ideal for adding maximum depth of flavor to your dishes or for creating exquisite sauces. The 400 g pack is perfect for two people and can be quickly and easily conjured up into a delicious dish. The tender meat of the mussels paired with the mussel flavor of the clams are ideal for exotic enjoyment in coconut milk or more traditionally prepared in white wine.

Defrosting instructions :

  • The optimal defrosting - for those who plan ahead: You can gently defrost this product in the refrigerator within 12 hours.
  • The quick version - for those who decide at short notice: If you are in a hurry, it is possible to defrost this product in a water bath within 1 hour. The water should be cold to lukewarm.

Store this product in the freezer at at least -18°C. We guarantee a best before date of 3 months after delivery. You can find the exact best-before date on the product label.

Origin

The mussels, with the Latin terms Mytilus galloprovincialis come from sustainable aquaculture while the manila clams, Ruditapes philippinarum, are caught with dredges in Galicia in the northwest of Spain (FAO 27 IX.a).
