Origin
Our organic Black Tiger prawns (Penaeus monodon) come from a near-natural aquaculture in South Vietnam. There, they grow amidst ecologically intact mangrove forests – without any added feed or chemicals. Nature provides everything they need. Any resulting emissions are fully offset through a certified reforestation project. The prawns live in spacious waters and grow slowly and stress-free. Once fully grown, they are carefully caught by hand using nets. The farmers play an important role in this process: They actively protect the mangroves and, in return, receive fair wages and long-term prospects. Protecting the mangroves is central to the quality of our organic black tiger prawns —and to the small ecological footprint they leave behind. Our program not only ensures high-quality products but also the preservation of a sensitive ecosystem.
