How wagyu beef tastes best

The good news: thanks to its fine marbling and exceptional quality, Wagyu comes with an almost guaranteed success rate – it’s nearly impossible to prepare it in a way that doesn’t taste incredible. After removing it from the packaging, let the meat rest at room temperature for about 20 minutes and gently pat it dry. Wagyu is perfect for quick grilling or searing in a cast iron pan over medium heat. Keep the seasoning minimal to let the natural flavor shine.
You’ll find specific cooking tips for each cut on the respective product pages.

What makes Wagyu beef so special?

Wagyu beef is known for three key qualities. The first is immediately visible: its intense marbling. This leads directly to the second – its exceptional flavor. The fine fat distribution makes the meat incredibly tender. The third aspect is its nutritional profile: thanks to a high proportion of unsaturated omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, Wagyu is considered more wholesome and easier to digest than many other types of beef.

What does Wagyu beef taste like?

Eating Wagyu is a true flavor experience. The fine marbling makes the meat exceptionally tender and juicy, with a rich, intense taste that stands out. It’s a true highlight for meat lovers.

Why is Wagyu more expensive than other beef?

Wagyu cattle are a very specific breed with unique genetics and are still relatively rare outside of Japan. The term “Wagyu” literally means “Japanese cattle.” In Japan—where great importance is placed on meat quality, enjoyment, and umami—this breed was originally developed, forming the foundation for today’s global Wagyu population. Wagyu beef is prized for its exceptional quality, fine marbling, tenderness, and flavor, and has become a staple in fine dining. In addition, Wagyu cattle are typically raised for about twice as long as conventional livestock, which also contributes to the higher value and price of the meat.

What do Wagyu cattle at Gut Wagyu eat?

The animals are fed a combination of two main components. First, pasture feeding: the cattle graze on biodiverse grasslands and feed on a variety of natural grasses and herbs. Second, especially during the winter months, they receive supplementary feed in the barn. This consists of a specially developed mix of regional ingredients such as brewer’s grains and different types of cereals.

Is Wagyu from Gut Wagyu sustainable?

Yes – and in a truly holistic way. The animals are raised in a natural environment on spacious pastures, with access to shelter and retreat areas. Feed is also handled responsibly: instead of wasting resources or competing with food production, Gut Wagyu uses by-products such as brewer’s grains or grain residues that are not suitable for human consumption. This creates a meaningful circular system in which existing resources are used as efficiently as possible. Combined with short transport routes, regional farming, and a strong focus on animal welfare, the result is a product that not only delivers outstanding flavor but can also be enjoyed with a clear conscience.
