- 2 sprigs fresh thyme
Our Black Tiger king prawns as a whole are the star of every occasion. Marinated in lemon-garlic herb oil, they develop an irresistible crustacean aroma as soon as they are fried. The recipe is suitable for both cooking in the pan and on the grill, you can find out more about it in our tip below.
Preparation
- To prepare, let the king prawns thaw in the fridge overnight. Cut the shrimp along the back with scissors, remove the intestines and then clean.
- For the lemon garlic herb oil, wash the herbs, pat dry and chop finely. Mix with olive oil, juice of 2 lemons, lemon zest from one lemon and a finely grated garlic clove. Season with salt and pepper.
- Drizzle the shrimp with some of the herb oil inside the shell and leave to marinate for 15 minutes.
- Fry the king prawns in olive oil with the rosemary sprigs and lightly crushed garlic cloves over medium heat for about 7 minutes on each side. The shrimp should have distinct roasted aromas on the outside and be nice and crunchy on the inside. For a delicious dipping action, arrange the remaining lemon garlic herb oil in small bowls.
- Serve as is or with crispy baguette and fried vegetables.
The shrimp is also ideal for grilling due to its shell, as it is cooked tenderly protected from the heat. If you want to use the oil for dipping, it's best to fry the shrimp in a grill tray. Tips for grilling shrimp can be found in our How to.
